12 Days of Christmas with the EtsyKids Team!

I've always loved the 12 Days of Christmas...although, I've yet to figure out what I would do with all those animals! Fortunately celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas with the EtsyKids Team, you won't end up with a house full of clucking hens and honking geese, but you could end up with a fabulous prize! Here's the details (originally posted on the EtsyKids blog):

On the first day of Christmas, the ETSYKIDS team members gave to me….a Christmas event you really must see!

November 28th – December 10th, join EtsyKids for 12 days of fabulous, festive fun and dreamy holiday prizes.

Here’s how to play:

Each day the EtsyKids blog will contain a post showing an image that’s hidden in an item listing on a few different EtsyKids team members’ shops, along with a clue on how to find it. When a contestant finds just one of the hidden images, they send an Etsy conversation to the day’s entry collector with a link to the listing where they found it. Once their conversation is received, they’ll be entered into a drawing for an amazing EtsyKids prize. Those who find images for all 12 days are entered into the grand prize drawing!

Participants may use one of two methods to find the images:
1. Begin by looking at each of the 7,000+ EtsyKids listings, or
2. Decipher the clue to the keyword to narrow down the listings to under 100.

The clues are word association to the keyword. After you think you have the keyword, enter that word and "etsykids team" into Etsy's search, and start looking!

Example: Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus...........nativity
Thus, you would enter "nativity etsykids team" to narrow down the listings to hunt through. The clues start out easy, and they get harder!

Please do not post the answers anywhere - all answers will be revealed at the end of the game.

If you don't jump into the game until after it's started, no problem! You can still enter that day's drawing, as well as the remaining days, then go back and find the previous days to enter the grand prize drawing.

The Etsykids blog will also let contestants know who to contact to enter, as well as the prize(s) that will be awarded that day. The number of prizes will increase each day and the winners will be selected at random.

***Contestants can enter once each day.

Within 24 hours of winning, the lucky winners will be contacted via Etsy Conversation, and MUST contact (via Etsy Conversation) the prize donor with their mailing address within 2 days of being contacted. If they fail to contact the prize donor within the given time, a new winner will be selected.

It has been a lot of work to organize in a short amount of time, but it should be tons of fun, and I'm super excited about it! I hope lots of people enter for a chance to win some really cool stuff!

Don't you just love...

...when something you design comes out just how you wanted it to? I recently redesigned my business cards and all of my tags and packaging materials. They finally arrived from the printer last week, and I'm super excited with how they came out! Of course, I love packaging, so I was giddy and wanted to jump up and down when the box arrived. I excitedly opened the box to check everything out, and immediately started putting it to use. New packaging always gives everything a fresh new look. I'm really pleased with my new packaging for my mini felted flower hair accessories:
And now I have tags that have all the information printed on them (except for the size and color/pattern), so it will be a snap to tag all those adorable baby shoes!

Website moving update: A Learning Experience

Lessons learned about moving a website:

1. Don't use a website building program that is specific to a certain host.

2. Switching web hosts can be a good thing, but save it for a less hectic time of year, since it may take some time to put the site back together.

3. Learning more about html would be super helpful.

So my website has moved to the new host, but things did not go quite as smoothly as I had hoped. As it turns out, I will not be able to just upload my previously created website files to the new host. The program that I had used to build my website only works with host I was previously using, and if I try to use the files I created with my new host, there will be a big error message on every single page. Ugh! So my options are to try to salvage the old files by opening them in a new website building program and attempting to edit out the error message (keeping in mind I know next to nothing about html), or to just start over. I'm choosing the latter, as it seems like the perfect opportunity to make some improvements! So it may take a little longer than I anticipated to "unpack" my website, but I get to re-decorate, and how fun is that??

Swirls & Pearls are back!

I haven't added any of my Swirls & Pearls jewelry to my Etsy shop in quite some time. I'm not sure why I've been leaving it out, but I've decided it's time to welcome it back in, and just in time for holiday gift shopping!

This first pair of earrings is in my Etsy shop already:

Copper Swirls & Pearls earrings:

And here's a sampling of some items that are on their way:

Moving my website

I always have mixed feelings about moving. On the one hand, there's that feeling of excitement and anticipation of relocating. On the other hand, there's the boxes. And more boxes. And even more boxes! Fortunately moving a website doesn't require packing and heavy lifting. And though it's not as exciting to move a website to a new host as it is to move yourself into a new place, hopefully it won't be as much of a bother either. So keep your fingers crossed for me to have a smooth transfer to my new host!
